What is clean fill?

Clean fill is waste material, generally collected from construction projects, that can be repurposed for future projects. To be classified as clean fill the waste material has to contain (in isolation or in combination) dirt, cement, concrete, gravel, brick, top soil, sand, and rubble.

As such, it can’t include organic or biological waste, glass, fiberglass, metals, cardboard, paper, contaminants and contaminated soil (combustible, radioactive, noxious, poisonous, or combustible materials, materials tainted by chemicals, spilled, oil, or other contaminants), household waste, hazardous products and consumer products (electronics, batteries, rubber, tyres, and toxic chemicals).

What is clean fill disposal?

Clean fill disposal is considered an environmentally responsible process that ensures construction waste is recycled and reused, not simply sent to landfill. In practice, it sees a combination of dirt, cement, concrete, gravel, brick, top soil, sand, and rubble waste that is left over from a construction or civil project site, generated from demolition or excavation, that is then collected and reused on another project site.

What is clean fill specifically used for?

Clean fill is used to fill in holes and depressions in the ground, alter the grade and elevation of a site, or to create artificial mounds or hills. Clean fill is a great alternative to traditional fill materials as it is considered environmentally friendly (a sustainable way to recycle site debris and construction waste) and can prove highly effective at cutting costs if you are recycling your own waste from one of your sites to be used as fill on another site.

Soil Transfer is big business!

Who uses clean fill?

Nationwide, clean fill is used by tradies, contractors, engineers, weekend warriors, and non-destructive digging service providers like us. At VAC Group we believe in doing everything we can to not only reduce our client’s site costs, improve the waste disposal and transfer process, and most critically, but also promote environmentally sustainable practices.

With our innovative soil transfer system, construction projects are able to employ environmentally responsible practices that actually reduce costs and time associated with soil and waste disposal. Instead of producing liquid waste that needs to be disposed of, the Soil Transfer process separates liquid and solid components within the excavated slurry, allowing for the liquidised soil to be reused on site while saving time and fuel, mitigating the tedious waste disposal process.
