Knowing exactly where various utilities lie beneath the surface is vital to ensure construction or maintenance can be completed safely and productively without unnecessary delays. Impacting and damaging pipes or cables can result in serious repair and insurance costs. If you have a project that requires underground service detection or mapping vacuum  excavation won’t damage underground infrastructure. At VAC Group we have the knowledge, experience and equipment to assist you with your underground service location.

We proudly provide our clients with the solutions to protect underground assets, by supplying underground services locating, mapping and non-destructive excavation services. Our clients include ‘blue chip’ private companies and federal, state and local government organisations, with which we predominantly undertake civil infrastructure projects and building works.

VAC Group offers a range of advanced scanning technologies which includes Electro-Magnetic Induction (EMI) scanning. We offer quality EMI utility location services to provide the right solution for your underground service locating needs. When used in conjunction with our vacuum excavation units for hire we can provide you with the ability to accurately locate your services, assets and cables as well as non-destructively dig to confirm the service cable locations.

Electro-Magnetic Induction (EMI) technology

VAC Group has invested in the creation of our own ground penetrating radar (GPR) technologies through Earth Radar. Our advanced machines contain 3D ground penetrating radar as well as radio location and remote sensing technology. We have a range of machines designed for small and large scale underground service location.

Our Latro is a push-cart subsurface reality capture machine, designed to rapidly map high-resolution underground services while moving. Our Sparas uses Noise-Modulated Ground Penetrating Radar and an array of ground-facing antennas to take high resolution 3D measurements of subsurface features at speeds of up to 100km/h.

Our experienced underground service location technicians are trained and qualified in detecting cables, utilities, voids, pipes, conduit, and underground objects. By using the most advanced GPR and underground services location technologies that have been developed by our team at Earth Radar our service location results are the most accurate in the industry.

The safety of our locators and operators is at the forefront of our business. We ensure that no matter where our team are working we are able to communicate and locate them with GPS monitoring systems. This is vital to our remote work where other forms of communication may not work. As our underground service locators are called to a range of jobs from the inner city to the remote parts of the west this technology ensures whether they’re alone or in a team we always have their back.
